YANKS TAKE GAME 1, ANDY STARTS GAME 2

Happy Friday all! Even though Burnett didn’t throw his best game, he still hung in there and gave us 7 innings, which is always encouraging. Then the offense came alive again, and even little Pena was a factor! With a 7-4 victory (3rd straight), Jete continued to swing a hot bat going 2-4 with an RBI, Damon homered early, and Melky went 2-4 (driving in 1) as he’s determined to stay in the line-up. The Melk-man is now hitting .327, and Girardi clearly stated that he is going to keep playing him as long as he stays hot. I’m sure he’s gonna come back to earth soon enough, but if he’s hitting then I guess you gotta play him - it’s not like he’s gonna hurt you defensively either. The defense wasn’t too shabby, as Swish has been playing much better in right, Pena makes any play that is required of him, and Jorge threw out runners in big spots. Speaking of defense, the former Yank Bobby Abreu, showed exactly why they didn’t bring him back to the Bronx last night - he completely misplayed a ball hit to him in rightfield, which ended up allowing a run to score.

Now we proceed to game 2 of the 4-game set with L.A., and Andy will face Jered Weaver, who has been very good so far in 09′. I expect a pretty good pitching matchup, and most likely lower scoring than the last couple of nights. I will settle for nothing less than taking 3 out of 4 in this series, because we’ve got a lot of momentum now, and the Angels are beat up and they’re in our house. Let’s go boys, take them out!!! On another note, Tampa blew out the Red Sox last night 13-0, and Garza had a perfect-game broken up in the 7th - would’ve been a dagger in those Ba-ston fans’ hearts.

I’m not even getting into the A-Rod stuff, the guy’s a joke. I’ve made it known that I never wanted to resign him after he opted out, and I’m just praying he hasn’t casted a curse on this franchise for the next 9 years.

Fantasy Friday will be skipped this week - stay tuned for next Friday.
